This stuffed peman dish is easy enough for even a novice cook to make without the peman separating from the meat or going out of flavor. It is a delightful side dish that does not require much effort and is very tasty.
Ingredients (3-4 servings):
6 peman
10.6 oz./300 g of ground beef (or beef & pork combined)
1/2 onion
6.5 tbsp of panko bread crumbs
*2 tbsp of milk
*A half egg
*1 tbsp of flour
A pinch each of salt and pepper
**2 tbsp pf oyster sauce
**1 tbsp of mirin sweet cooking rice wine
**1 tbsp of sake
**3.4 fl. oz./100 cc of water
Directions:
1. Chop the onion, place in a heatproof bowl, wrap in plastic wrap, and cook at 1000w for 90 seconds, then let cool.
2. Mix the ingredients starting with a "*".
3. Combine what you prepared in step 1 and 2, minced meat, salt and pepper, and mix well.
4. Rinse the peman, wipe well and cut in half. Remove only the seeds so as not to lose the stems.
5. Put the peman and flour in a plastic bag or container and shake well to blend.
6. Fill the peman with the meat mixture, making sure there are no gaps between the peman and the meat. Put enough to cover the top.
7. Heat oil in a frying pan and cook the meat side down.
8. With still the meat facing down, add the mixture of the ingredients starting with "**", cover with a lid, and steam. Remove lid and let the sauce be soaked in the meat.
9. Serve and enjoy!
Tip:
Cooking the peman with the meat part down gives them a nice color and shape.
