Sakura Mochi

New, and only available for a limited time at Maido is Sakura Mochi by Sakuraya. Traditionally regarded as a springtime treat, this sakura mochi features a lovely pink mochi filled with a sweet anko bean paste, then delicately wrapped with a salted cherry leaf. The resulting dessert is soft and chewy with a delicate cherry flavor and slight salty bite, perfectly reminiscent of a somewhat chilly, but still bright spring day. In Japan, sakura mochi is usually eaten as part of Hanami, or flower viewing parties, wherein friends and families gather to have a picnic beneath the cherry blossoms. Sakura mochi will only be at Maido so long as the cherry blossoms are out, so be sure to grab yours, along with other essential groceries, while spring is still in the air.
